new Foundation Apprenticeships

Foundation Apprenticeships are often known as pre-apprenticeship or work preparation programmes. These are designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and knowledge you need to progress to a full apprenticeship, college, or employment.

They include:

A pathway into full Apprenticeships, T Levels, or other vocational qualifications.

A combination of online or college-based learning and practical experience with local employers.

A focus on core employability skills like teamwork, communication, and digital skills.

Support with English and maths if needed.

Foundation Apprenticeships are aimed primarily at young people aged 16–21, though those aged 15 may also be eligible if their birthday falls between the last Friday in June and 31 August. The programme is also open to individuals aged 22–24 if they have an Education, Health and Care Plan, are care-experienced, or are in prison or recently released.

How It Works

Entry: No experience needed – just a positive attitude and willingness to learn
